Thanks for highlighting what's been happening to people with dementia. We care for my Mum, who has Alzheimer's at home. I looked back - we were in lock down at about that time. Aged care homes in Australia are a disgrace. People with dementia in residential care rely on loved ones to provide most of their care. This includes feeding, hydrating, managing incontinence and changing position to manage pressure areas. If you remember the Coroner's findings in the St Basil Nursing Home' deaths - residents died of malnutrition and dehydration (https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2022/jul/04/melbourne-aged-care-home-st-basils-charged-by-workplace-safety-watchdog-after-covid-deaths; https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-11-22/st-basil-aged-care-home-melbourne-covid-coronial-hearing/100640490). Anecdotally I have also heard of residents that lost significant amounts of weight. Due to the vaccine mandates, there were also extreme staff shortages. The aged care workforce has quite a lot of discretionary workers. Those staff that did not want to get the vaccine or were not prepared to work under the conditions imposed in nursing homes left the sector. Hence, my hypothesis is that staff shortages and no loved ones to provide care, meant residents died (without any real oversight by the severely lacking Dept of Health) at a significantly faster rate than they otherwise would have. There are still significant staff shortages in aged care.

Having said that, I think you are also right to question the impact of the vaccine - we know that the spike protein impacts the epithelium - so, in particular the vasculature is inflamed. We know that the spike protein crosses the blood brain barrier - so increased inflammation in the brain. Have a look at the excellent work by Dale Bredesen on Alzheimer's - Alzheimer's is essentially brain inflammation. Get rid of the sources of brain inflammation (toxins, lack of neurotrophic support, insulin resistance, etc) reduce your risk of Alzheimer's or reverse Alzheimer's (https://www.apollohealthco.com/dr-bredesen/). I expect that the vaccine has increased the rate of deterioration of people with dementia in aged care.

Again, thanks for your attention to this sector of the community. Much more attention is needed.

Hi Bel very important observations. I know from when I was responsible for the affairs of an elderly friend of my father's, when I would visit I would take opportunity to feed him. His appetite was good but it would take about 20 minutes to get through the meal. The few staff don't have time to do that for all those who need help. So what happens the food is left and then taken away. With all the COVID bureaucracy I imagine the staff have even less time for care of residents.

I've also received some direct mail from those working in the sector, relating the challenges.

Thank you for this. I was wondering when someone would connect the dots on the dementia aspect of the vaccines and lockdowns. Remember well two things: the lipid nanoparticles are designed to pass the blood-brain barrier (as per patents for oncolytic viruses - see the numerous patents by people at the University of Newcastle and Level 4 facility in Melbourne), and the Royal Commission into Aged care as below:

The Commissioners delivered an interim report on 31 October 2019, a special report on COVID-19 and aged care on 1 October 2020, and a final report on 26 February 2021. https://agedcare.royalcommission.gov.au/

Thank you for this fascinating and disturbing article.

I’m fairly sure that the “government directives in place to defer sending people with illness in aged care facilities to hospitals” cannot explain what you are seeing in the data, as - unless I am mistaken - those directives came into being in 2020, perhaps as early as 7th April 2020.

Perhaps the 2020 and pre-June 2021 dementia excess mortality rate compared with your baseline accounts for policy-induced mortality, whilst your post-June 2021 excess mortality rate compared with 2020 represents the vaccine-induced mortality.

Thanks again for your hard work.

Best wishes,

Paul

The following statement comes from the 'government' document you referenced -

https://www.health.gov.au/sites/default/files/2022-12/covid-19-outbreaks-in-australian-residential-aged-care-facilities-9-december-2022.pdf.

"Over the course of the pandemic, all-cause excess mortality in Residential Aged Care was

below expected numbers in 2020, and within expected range in 2021."

Does it make any sense?

Thanks for pointing this out. That statement applies for aged care in general which is a much larger population than the people with dementia. I haven't yet found any raw data for aged care mortality. So it's hard to verify that statement. Dementia is a very specific group of people. They are mostly old and frail. They are vulnerable. It's possible that some subgroups did OK during lockdowns (eg no influenza). Other subgroups it could have been catastrophic (eg depression).

Also a question is what does "within expected range" mean? On the ABS graph you can see the range for years 2015-2019. 2021 tracks above the top part of the blue shaded area for at least over half of the weeks. 2021 seems clearly above "expected range". "Expected range" may be defined as some larger region than the blue shown.

Somewhat related, Joel Smalley had a look at Australian Nursing Home Deaths in an article published on his substack 21 January 2023. Might be worth a read if you haven’t already read it. Looks like he had to dig deep to get the data from a bunch of separate pdf files.

Endotoxin contributes to Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

See "The endotoxin hypothesis of neurodegeneration" https://doi.org/10.1186/s12974-019-1564-7

The use of "Recombinant, replication-deficient" Chimpanzee Adenovirus and Polysorbate 80, histidine, EDTA and Sucrose in AstraZeneca is also of concern to me.

The elderly were mostly given AstraZeneca as their first jab. Autoimmune Encephalitis?

Hi Geoff, I was looking to find data on which type of jabs were being dished out at that time. You are right at some point they stopped AZ for under 50s and only for older folk were recommended it. I think in this situation with a cohort of frail people, whatever they were given could have hastened death.

I know of two people that were in aged care Sydney - Inner West (two different care homes) that were given Pfizer early May 2021, both with dementia, even though the media were telling us that they could only get Astra.

One of these was my sister’s FIL, 14 days post his first shot he fell and ended up in hospital with a suspected hip fracture. During pre-op they found pulmonary clots (like they had never seen before) and said that clots were only associated with Astra and not Pfizer! He died in hospital a week later from a heart attack (Myo/pericarditis) on the right side of his heart. The doctors would/did not register this with the TGA.

I also know of another man in aged care also with Parkinson’s (Northern Beaches NSW) he received Astra and 3 days post vaccine he had a stroke which was also not reported as a possible vaccine injury.

So a mix of vaccines were given to the elderly in aged care; but essentially they were having the same affect.

Sorry to hear of the suffering, but gathering all such knowledge is important. Hopefully there will be a proper parliamentary investigation after the NSW election. Then all the evidence can be submitted and kept forever in Hansard.

My aunty died 4 days after her first jab in Aug 2021, I believe it was AZ. While she was on a couple of medications, they were mainly for back pain following a car accident she was in a few years earlier.

Very sorry to hear that. It's been a sad few years for many people. That is in that timeframe of the push to rollout. They started discouraging AZ at some point.

Looking back at news articles from the time eg https://www.theguardian.com/society/2021/may/23/people-under-50-asking-for-and-getting-astrazeneca-vaccine-as-older-australians-hang-back

you can see what a mess.

Thanks Andrew. While I will never know whether it was a contributor to her death, the one thing I do know for sure is that the question can not even be asked.

Hi, I have an Australian story of a friend from Church. It is second hand through another friend. My friend had lost her husband in 2020 to a long bout of cancer. His mother had lived with them but as she had dementia she was moved to a nursing home whilst my friend cared for her husband at home. In 2021 the military came through vaccinating all the residents, as this article indicates. My friend had a NO VACCINES note on her mother in law's file. The nursing home staff appropriately kept her aside as they lined up all the other residents in the nursing home for the military to vaccinate. The military queried the "set aside" resident and ordered staff to line her up with the others. Whilst the nursing home staff protested due to the family's NO VACCINE option the military personnel over road the objections and vaccinated her anyway.

WHAT happened next is a travesty. The mother in law became very ill and died by the next morning. My friend was called to the nursing home but found her mother in law's room full with six local policemen - Called in by the nursing home staff - due to the inappropriate giving of the vaccination. At first the police refused to let my friend see her deceased mother in law but the nursing home staff insisted that she be allowed.

My understanding is that nothing happened. The military acted without consent. The nursing home staff were put in an untenable position so they called the police. Nothing happened to the military personnel and the local police swept this premature death under the rug.

But your article suggests...... and how many others? NO TRUST

Not the military

Not the medical system

Not the coroners office see Sgt Stephen Kelly

Not TGA failing to include children's death in their reports 7yo and 9yo missing from the report

Margot, I am so sorry for your friend's family. It's horrific that this could have happened in Australia. We can only hope that there is a Royal Commission in the future and that more of this is uncovered and the public are made aware of what has transpired.

I appreciate your comment and hope that we, as a society, turn this around. Otherwise we have a very dark future ahead of us.
